Better Energy for Workspaces Scheme
Recently J&R Electrical completed a large lighting scheme in two schools in Co. Donegal. The schools in Donegal Town (Abbey Vocational School) and Letterkenny (Errigal College) received a full new lighting upgrade under the Better Energy at Workspaces Scheme 2011. This project comprised of all existing light fittings being taken down and disposed of and replaced with Thorlux fittings incorporating PIR/Daylight sensors c/w T5 lamps.
This project had to be carried out after school hours and comprised of weekend and night shift work. We had a tight schedule to work to which made it more challenging as both schools were being done together.
In total over one thousand new light fittings where installed and all water heaters also received 24hr 7 day Time Clocks. As part of this contract Abbey Vocational School in Donegal Town received Eco-Bead cavity wall insulation.
The project was completed in time and within budget. We received very positive feed back from both schools of how well the project was handled and organised with virtually no snags, and how big of difference the new installation made to the amount of light in the classrooms and corridors and most importantly the improved difference in their energy bill.
